Product Review: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel

Hi everyone! Happy Thursday! Today I bring you a product I've been using for about a month now, it's the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel. I don't know about you guys but it's practically in every beauty/fashion magazine and all over the commercials nowadays. The dry-skin variation was also in the Target Spring Beauty Box-REVIEW HERE. For me, I have semi-sensitive combo skin (both dry and oily, sometimes more than another depending on the time of year). I use it daily now and have been quite impressed with the results, let's get started!
About The Product
(From the product website and the product itself.)
-Neutrogena Hydro Boost instantly quenches dry skin while keeping it supple, hydrated and smooth all day long.
-The unique water gel formula absorbs quickly, like a gel while having the long-lasting quality of a cream or moisturizer.
-Product is oil-free, non-cosmedogenic, has purified hyaluronic acid(acts like a sponge for dry skin cells and moisturizes) and is wearable under makeup.

My Review
Is the packaging absolutely beautiful? Yes that is definitely a selling point though I wish it was in a pump or something where I didn't have to dip my finger into. My tip for that is to turn the product upside down with the cap on of course then upright then tap again and use it that way. I find that it gives me the perfect amount and is so much better than trying to pour some out into the cap or my hand. This stuff is "liquidity", you WILL make a mess, trust me. From the commercials, you can see the model's skin look SUPER smooth and supple and I was so surprised when my skin did too. It doesn't last the entire day looking like that but initially it does. Like with all skincare/beauty products, do check the ingredients just in case you are allergic to them and test a small amount of skin as well.
For me, the water gel is tinted blue but it doesn't make you look blue at all. Also, I find that even though I do have more oily parts of my face as well as dry, this product does give me decent moisturization which is great and surprising because of how light and thin it is. Though with my acne-prone skin, you do NOT want to really exfoliate too much or put acne cream under this, it may burn or create little red bumps or redness (well it did for me anyways). Though when I didn't do that step, it applied fine.
This product is actually quite pricey at around $19 or so, though you can find it on sale and for $14 on various websites. Overall I'd say that this product is pretty fantastic, I'm loving it and use it 1x a day (mornings) and in the night I use my Cerave Daily Moisturizer. Works great under makeup as well. They do also have 3 varieties in total, the "Water Gel" aka what I call the original, the "Water Cream" aka for dry skin and the version for the eye area specifically. Hope you enjoyed this review!

  1. I really need to check this product out. Like you I have dry/oily skin and I find it hard to find products that work well with the combo. I like that it is a really thin gel, I find that also having sensitive skin, it helps with not having any reactions. Great review and going to check this out over the weekend.

  4. I have a 9 year old who has spent his entire life breaking out in a horrible rash from sunscreens. Then we discovered Neutrogena. They have an SPF 70 that is made specifically for faces. ? No rash. We use that all over his body.

Ever since then I have been a die hard Neutrogena fan. This looks like another great product.

  6. I love the discription for the ingredients. Soaks up dry skin like a sponge and that is how my skin will look better.

  8. I love Neutrogene products, but I haven't tried this one, yet. My skin is also a combination of dry and oily and if you say it works for you, it might work for me as well. I need to buy this.

  9. I must agree, the packaging is definitely beautiful! I have never tried this product but it sounds like it would be very helpful for me in the winter when my skin gets dry and flakey. I will be looking forward to trying this out in a few months!

  10. I've seen this product in the mall and have heard from the sales assistant how good it is. I'm also intrigued to try it out after I'm done with my current water gel from Olay. It's good that you can wear it under makeup and that it's oil-free.

  11. I have been looking at this, but you're right-at $19 it's a lot to spend to just "try it". Though if you've had success, I may need to check it out. I have extremely sensitive skin, and it sounds like this would work well.

  13. Neutrogena has earned it's name in the beauty line. I first tried the formula because it was suggested to me to relieve sunburn and boy did it ever. I never got a blister. If only I could have reapplied it while asleep as that is the only time I felt the pain using Neutrogena. I'm sure these products are as fabulous. I'll have to give them a try.
