Food Friday: Chicken Teriyaki Sushi with Lee Kum Kee Sriracha Mayo

Hi everyone! Welcome everyone to FOOD FRIDAY "week 7". I'm back at ya with another "food recipe"/product spotlight. Today is the Chicken Teriyaki Sushi with Lee Kum Kee Sriracha Mayo "recipe". It really simple as most of these ingredients are pretty much already "done". All we need are some teriyaki chicken (or grilled chicken if you prefer), some seaweed (roasted is fine as well), boiled rice and Lee Kum Kee Sriracha. All thanks and brought to you by PhilAmFood! Let's get started!

Final Thoughts
Wasn't this "recipe" super easy? Relatively everything can be prepped prior though if you put actually make the sushi, your seaweed will get soggy (personal preference). You can use either a roasted seaweed like I am or a the traditional "flat" variety. I got mine from Costco for about $8 (I believe) and it came in a 10ct pack. For the chicken, you can just do a little stir fry, and create your own teriyaki sauce (sugar, soy sauce, water, salt to taste) or buy it in a bottle. After that it is really quite simple. Take your seaweed, take some rice, add a piece of chicken (I used chicken thigh and just pulled it apart). To taste, you can add some sriracha mayo which makes it oh so good! Or if you prefer, you may leave out the sriracha mayo and just dip it as you please.
Overall I was quite surprised with this sriracha mayo. Are you familiar with it? Basically it's your "spicy mayo" from regular sushi (ex. spicy tuna roll, spicy crab roll etc.). And as you know, each restaurant and company does make it unique, some have more sriracha/spice while others are more creamy and mayo based (it is a Japanese style mayo). For me, this one was pretty balanced though after eating a couple of rolls, I found it to be a bit spicy and had to get a drink of water. Though everyone's level of spice is different, you can add more or less to your own personal preference.
The consistency of this sriracha mayo is medium, its not too liquidity or too thick, you can see some "soft-peaks" in it if swirled. Thanks to PhilAmFood I was able to try this out. They are an online Filipino/Asian goods supermarket (store front in Jersey City, NJ). They have a huge variety of different items, anything from frozen goods to snacks, noodles/ramen, to sauces and condiments. They really do have it all. They also always have a coupon code available so be sure to sign up for email notifications(bottom right corner) on that and check their website and Facebook Page often! I also love that they take PAYPAL. Until next time, happy FOOD FRIDAY!

  13. I had Sriracha for the first time a few months ago I have always been scared to take on the taste but I wanted to know what the deal was. I liked it and it was a very different taste. I would try the Mayo though another company has one similar that was very mild surprisingly

  14. Anytime I think of Sriracha Mayo, I think of the Mexican corn carts! Definitely yummy, I'm not a sushi person though. I would definitely use this for Mexican dishes though. I wonder if this tastes the same as having sriracha and mayo separate, but putting it on the same food...

  15. I have loved when I can try new cooking sauces. These sounds like it would be a good one to try out. I prefer to make foods like this at home so I control what’s in the ingredients making it a bit healthier.

  19. The rice and mayo sauce sounds delicious. I would even give the sea weed a go but the sushi is not for me. The day I plan my grocery list I'll have to come back and write down the name of this sauce as it sounds yummy. Thanks for the review!

  23. I must admit I love sushi!!! This recipe is so easy I think even I could make it, and i can not cook at all lol. I would replace the teriyaki with the grilled chicken because I am not a fan of teriyaki. Sorry lol.

  25. My brother has some sriracha ketchup at the house, but I did not know that sriracha mayo existed – yum! Also, I've never cooked with seaweed before, and have wondered what it tastes like in a dish. And…I've never had sushi before. Looks like I need to catch up a bit.
